Kanzu Leek Amaryllidaceae
Small hardy allium for a vegetable garden or rockery. It forms a tight but spreading clump of edible grassy leaves about 15cm/6” high, with nodding clusters of deep purple flowers in summer. Attracts bees. Good for sandy soils. Edible flowers and leaves.
Hooker’s Onion Amaryllidaceae
A wonderful long flowering allium producing masses of white drumstick flowers. Robust clone collected from Mizoram, India. White flowered with strong erect flower stems. Still flowering December with us. Leaves used in Asian cooking. This garden worthy clone is named after my daughter.
Japanese Onion Amaryllidaceae
A delightful splash of purple late in the season. Grassy leaved perennial which produces masses of rose-purple flowers in October/November. Edible leaves used in soups. Named '1100' as this was height marker it was found at on Mt. Hallasan, South Korea
Brassica'Pentland Brig' Brassicaceae
A superbly flavoured tender perennial kale, that resulted from a cross of Curly kale and Thousand Headed Kale. Plants can grow to 3' and 4' wide with a neat mounding habit. Our plants are now 6 years old and provide months of tender shoots in the spring. One of our favorite vegetables. Resistant to Cabbage white butterfly and pigeons. Very hardy.
