Tulbaghia violacea ‘Snow White’

A particularly choice white-flowered selection of Society Garlic, distinguished by its large heads of exceptionally pure white flowers, completely free of the pink colouring normally seen in T. violacea. The flowers are held on slender stems above neat clumps of narrow, grey-green, garlic-scented leaves and are produced over an exceptionally long season.

‘Snow White’ was already circulating in specialist European collections by 2018, appearing in the catalogue of the French specialist nursery Verttige/Pépinière, and was subsequently offered by specialist British nurseries including Marchants Hardy Plants. Its original raiser and date of introduction remain undocumented.

It should not be confused with Tulbaghia ‘Fairy Snow’, which Marchants identify as the white-flowered form of T. cominsii × T. violacea ‘Fairy Star’. ‘Snow White’ is treated separately and appears to be a selection of T. violacea.
