Thymus pulegioides ‘Kurt’

Thyme Lamiaceae

Small, fragrant and entirely untroubled by the need to make a fuss, Thymus ‘Kurt’ is a neat little thyme for the front of the border, rock garden or anywhere that appreciates plants with a strong sense of proportion. Its aromatic foliage forms a low, spreading mat, while clusters of small flowers provide a welcome splash of colour in summer and a useful feast for visiting insects. Like most thymes, it positively enjoys sunshine and sharply drained soil, becoming increasingly miserable as conditions become damp and heavy. A fine culinary herb, groundcover and pollinator plant rolled into one remarkably compact package. Height 5–10cm; spread 30–40cm.

Collected by Kurt Reschke. Introduced by Werner Simon, Marktheidenfeld, Germany in 2000. Europe.
