The RHS describes it as forming a clump to around \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e50cm\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, with deep red flowerheads held above the foliage. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIntroduction:\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e ‘Tanna’ is an established \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eJapanese-derived selection\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, although its original raiser and introduction history are not well documented. It has long been cultivated as a compact form of \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eSanguisorba officinalis\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e and is now generally listed by the RHS simply as \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eSanguisorba\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cem\u003e ‘\u003c\/em\u003eTanna’, with \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eS. officinalis\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e ‘Tanna’ treated as a synonym. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eGrow in \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003efull sun or partial shade\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e in moist but well-drained soil. Avoid allowing it to dry out severely during summer. Its modest stature, strong flowering performance and attractive foliage make it particularly useful where taller Sanguisorbas would be excessive.
