Pilea plataniflora ‘Glossy’ PB 09-1235

Friendship Plant Urticaceae

A particularly handsome Pilea with large, broadly lobed leaves carrying an unusually glossy, almost lacquered surface. The foliage gives this otherwise restrained woodland plant a distinctly tropical air, making it excellent for the shaded garden where its polished leaves catch what little light is available. A Patrick Blanc collection from the mountains of Taiwan, numbered PB 09-1235, it may originate from Blanc’s documented Taiwanese expeditions of 2007. Best grown in partial to full shade, protected from drying winds and given plenty of organic matter. A choice foliage plant for the gardener who likes their shade borders with a touch of the exotic.
