Avens Rosaceae

A name that sounds good enough to eat, and a colour to match! ‘Bremner’s Nectarine’ brings a deliciously fruity glow to the late spring border, with nodding single, soft orange flowers held on upright stems. All the charm of our native Water Avens but in orange. Associated with Alan Bremner, the Scottish plantsman celebrated for his hardy Geranium breeding, this is a charming Geum for anyone who likes their perennials with a little personality. Although the precise breeding and introduction history remains elusive, the cultivar certainly deserves a place among the more distinctive members of the clan.

Easy-going and generous with its flowers, grow it in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil, in sun or light shade. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage a longer flowering season, and combine with ornamental grasses, hardy geraniums and other summer perennials for a relaxed, colourful display. No fruit tree required!
