Galanthus ‘Rainbow Yo-Yo'

Raised by Michael & Anne Broadhurst of Rainbow Farm, this vigorous snowdrop has a name that sounds as though it ought to come with its own playground equipment! Its large, rounded white flowers have thick-textured segments, with an inverted V-shaped green marking on the inner segments. Carried on long, arching flower stalks, the blooms have an elegant, pendulous appearance that rewards a closer look.

Like all good snowdrops, it is best planted where you can get down to appreciate the finer details, rather than admiring it from the kitchen window. Give it humus-rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil in partial shade, and allow the clump to develop undisturbed. A vigorous grower, it should make a useful addition to a collection, as well as a welcome splash of winter interest in the garden.
