Galanthus ‘Son of a Gun’

A particularly characterful “faced” snowdrop, ‘Son of a Gun’ was selected at Edulis from a hybrid swarm of Galanthus × valentinei. The flowers carry a strong, expressive green marking on the inner segments, giving them a distinctly face-like appearance—one of those snowdrops that seems to look back at you. It is also relatively late flowering, extending the season well beyond many of the early Galanthus.

Origin: An Edulis selection from a hybrid swarm of Galanthus × valentinei, chosen for its strong facial marking and comparatively late flowering period.

In the garden: A choice collector’s snowdrop with good hybrid vigour. Best planted in moisture-retentive, humus-rich soil in partial shade, where the strongly marked flowers can be appreciated at close quarters.
