A distinctive and remarkably early Galanthus elwesii, flowering from November, with slender, elegant flowers, a slender green ovary and strong green markings to the outer segments. Particularly intriguing is the Scharlockii-type spathe, which gives the emerging flower an unusual, rather architectural character. Already recorded among the named green-marked elwesii cultivars by 2018, it is now valued as one of the reliable early forms. Its original finder and precise provenance appear not to have been published, leaving the wonderfully eccentric name as one of its remaining mysteries.
