Galanthus elwesii var. monostrictus ‘Rogers Rough’
A particularly early and handsome form of Galanthus elwesii var. monostictus, producing good-sized, neatly formed flowers with a single green mark on each inner segment. The flowers are held prominently above the foliage and appear early in the season, making this an excellent snowdrop for getting the winter display underway. Named for Rogers Rough, the Kent garden of Richard Bird, where this distinctive form was grown, it has the robust character and substantial flowers expected of a good G. elwesii. Best grown in humus-rich, moisture-retentive soil with good summer drainage, where it will steadily form a fine clump.
