An unusually early-season autumn-flowering snowdrop, ‘Lady Latife’ is a particularly vigorous form of Galanthus rizehensis. It produces chunky, rounded white flowers, often with two or three flowering scapes from a single bulb, making a surprisingly substantial display for a snowdrop flowering when most of its relatives are still thinking about summer. The foliage is mid-green rather than strongly glaucous. Edulis considers it probably its best-performing autumn-flowering snowdrop.

Origin: A selected form of Galanthus rizehensis, maintained at Edulis as ‘Lady Latife’. The species is native to the Rize region of north-eastern Turkey, where it grows in the humid Caucasian Black Sea climate.

In the garden: An excellent choice for extending the snowdrop season dramatically into autumn. Grow in moisture-retentive, humus-rich soil in partial shade and avoid allowing it to become excessively dry during its growing season.

Flowering: October–December
Hardiness: H5 (−15 to −10°C)
