Galanthus reginae-olgae ‘Tilebarn Jamie’

A particularly choice and historically interesting autumn-flowering Galanthus reginae-olgae, ‘Tilebarn Jamie’ was selected by Tilebarn Nursery in the 1980s and named by Peter Moore in honour of his father. One of the earlier snowdrops to appear each year, it flowers from October into November, often when the rest of the genus is still firmly asleep. The elegant white flowers are held above the developing foliage and have all the fresh charm expected of G. reginae-olgae. Its ability to flower so early makes it an especially valuable plant for extending the snowdrop season backwards into autumn — and provides the collector with something to get excited about while everyone else is still raking leaves. A cultivar with genuine nursery history as well as horticultural merit, ‘Tilebarn Jamie’ is a fitting reminder of the contribution made by Tilebarn Nursery and Peter Moore to the cultivation and distribution of unusual hardy plants.

Growing conditions: Best grown in humus-rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil in light or dappled shade. Appreciates good moisture during active growth but dislikes permanently waterlogged conditions.
