Galanthus reginae-olgae ssp. vernalis ‘Luca’

A large, robust and distinctive spring-flowering snowdrop, ‘Luca’ has particularly well-shaped white flowers and a strong silvery midrib running through its dark green leaves. The combination of substantial flowers, handsome foliage and early flowering makes it an especially attractive form of the spring-flowering G. reginae-olgae complex.

Origin: A Sicilian form collected below Mount Etna, where G. reginae-olgae subsp. vernalis occurs naturally. 

In the garden: A vigorous, distinctive snowdrop for humus-rich, moisture-retentive soil. The strong silver midrib remains an attractive feature even when the flowers have faded.
