Galanthus ‘Northern Lights'

A particularly luminous virescent snowdrop, Galanthus × valentinei ‘Northern Lights’ was found by Andy Byfield in the Walled Garden at Flete, Devon, in 2005. A graceful hybrid with an unusual intensity of green, it has pale green-washed outer segments and strongly green inner segments, producing a flower with a soft, glowing quality reminiscent of its evocative name.

The plant combines the elegant character of Galanthus × valentinei with a particularly attractive distribution of green, making it a distinctive addition to a collection of virescent snowdrops. Its discovery in the historic Walled Garden at Flete adds an appealing sense of place to this relatively modern selection.
