Galanthus nivalis 'Ecusson D'Or'

A remarkable yellow-marked form of Galanthus nivalis found by Mark Brown at Écusson in northern France in 2002. ‘Ecusson d’Or’ is particularly unusual because the yellow pigmentation extends beyond the inner segments onto the outer segments, a feature that distinguishes it from most of the traditional yellow snowdrops. The ovary is also yellow, while the inner segments carry yellow markings. It is a particularly handsome and unusual selection of the common snowdrop, and its French provenance is retained in its name. 

The cultivar is accepted by the RHS and belongs to the Sandersii Group. 

Cultivation: Grow in humus-rich, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil in good light or light deciduous shade. Good light is particularly beneficial for developing the strongest yellow colouring. Allow the foliage to mature and die back naturally after flowering.
