Galanthus nivalis ‘Apatite'

A 2018 Edulis selection from the cross ‘Nova Gorica’ × ‘Green Tear’, producing a particularly attractive virescent G. nivalis with a cool, mineral-green character. The colouring gives the flowers a distinctive freshness, reminiscent of the green varieties of apatite from which the name is taken. A particularly interesting example of the way careful hybridisation can produce new expressions of green in the Common Snowdrop, combining the qualities of two established green forms rather than relying on chance alone. Selected and raised at Edulis in 2018, ‘Apatite’ is one of our more recent snowdrop introductions and a fine addition to the increasingly sophisticated palette of green G. nivalis.
