A choice snowdrop selected by Ian Christie from the remarkable colonies at Brechin Castle, Angus, where Galanthus nivalis and G. plicatus grow together and have produced an extraordinary range of natural variation and hybrids. ‘Lady Alice’ is one of a number of distinctive forms selected from this population, and has the unmistakable character of the Brechin snowdrops, combining the elegance of nivalis with the broader, more substantial qualities associated with plicatus. The flowers are neatly formed and well held above attractive foliage, making this a particularly worthwhile garden clone with a genuine piece of Scottish snowdrop history behind it.

The Brechin snowdrops remained largely undisturbed for many years before Ian Christie began selecting and propagating the more exceptional forms with the cooperation of Lord and Lady Dalhousie.
