Galanthus ‘La Morinière'
An elegant old French Galanthus nivalis selection, distinguished by its particularly long, slender outer segments and neatly green-marked inner segments. The flowers have a graceful, rather elongated appearance that sets it apart from the usual rather dumpy doubles of G. nivalis. The name, meaning essentially “of La Morinière”, appears to be a French place-name, although the particular garden or estate responsible for the plant has, so far, eluded the snowdrop detectives. La Morinière is a common French toponym, particularly in western France. An established cultivar in European collections, but its original selection and date of introduction remain undocumented.
