Galanthus elwesii ‘Kermode Bear’

A stunning, exceptionally large poculiform Galanthus elwesii introduced by Cal Mateer in British Columbia, Canada. The flowers are remarkably rounded and symmetrical, with the outer segments forming a neat, enclosed cup around the inner segments—a particularly handsome expression of the poculiform form. At 18–24cm, it is a substantial snowdrop, with flowers that have real presence above the foliage. The name is an appealing nod to the Kermode or ‘spirit’ bear of British Columbia, tying this exceptional snowdrop neatly to its Canadian origins. A striking collector’s plant and one of the more impressive large-flowered elwesii selections.
