Galanthus ‘Kew Green’
A handsome single-flowered hybrid with completely green inner segments contrasting dramatically with the pure-white, strongly puckered outer segments. Its ultimate origin remains unclear, but its cultivated history can be traced back to Sir Ghillean Prance, who gave it to Victoria Wakefield from the Kew Collection. It subsequently passed to Veronica Cross, where it attracted considerable attention at a snowdrop lunch before being distributed more widely. Avon Bulbs recorded that they had previously offered the plant simply as ‘Kew’. A fascinating snowdrop with an unusually well-documented chain of custody, even if its original parentage remains a mystery.
