Galanthus elwesii ‘Jessica’

A superb green-tipped Galanthus elwesii, found by Phil Cornish near Wroxall, Warwickshire, in 1997 and named for his wife. The large, bowl-shaped outer segments carry prominent green lines towards their tips, while the inner segments bear a strong, dark green inverted V that diffuses upwards towards the base. The combination gives the flower an unusually bold and graphic appearance. Narrow grey-green foliage and the tendency for established bulbs to produce two flowers add to its appeal. A vigorous, substantial snowdrop and deservedly one of the more admired green-tipped elwesii selections.
