A charming green-marked snowdrop with neat, rounded flowers, ‘Greengage’ bears broad, pure-white outer segments surrounding inner segments boldly washed and marked with fresh apple-green. The colouring gives the flowers a particularly crisp, luminous appearance, with the green often becoming more pronounced as the flowers mature. A distinctive and desirable cultivar for the collector, combining good form with the fresh colouring suggested by its name.

Origin: Found by Olive Mason in her garden, where it was selected for its distinctive green-marked flowers and subsequently introduced into cultivation as ‘Greengage’.

In the garden: A choice snowdrop for naturalising beneath deciduous trees, shrubs or in woodland-style plantings. Best left undisturbed to establish and increase, in humus-rich, moisture-retentive soil with good drainage. The green markings are particularly effective when planted in groups where the flowers can be viewed close-up.
