A particularly distinctive green-marked snowdrop, Galanthus nivalis ‘Green Jeanie’ produces neat, rounded flowers with broad white outer segments and inner segments carrying strong green markings. The colouring is concentrated towards the tips and extends generously across the inner segments, giving the flowers a fresh, vivid appearance. Its name adds a suitably musical touch to an already characterful snowdrop.

Origin: Selected and released by Edulis Nursery in 2016 in honour of David Bowie. The name ‘Green Jeanie’ is a playful reference to Bowie’s celebrated 1972 single The Jean Genie, with ‘Green’ neatly alluding to the prominent green markings of the flower.

In the garden: A choice snowdrop for collectors and naturalistic plantings, particularly effective when planted in groups beneath deciduous trees and shrubs. Allow it to settle undisturbed in humus-rich, moisture-retentive soil, where established clumps flower generously from year to year.
