Galanthus plicatus ‘Adam'

A rather special Galanthus plicatus with an unusual trick up its snowy sleeve. Selected from a plant growing in the garden of the late Veronica Cross, ‘Adam’ is distinguished by its remarkably strong green markings extending onto the outer segments, giving the flowers considerably more character than the usual green-tipped plicatus fare. The flowers are nicely proportioned, with the green markings contrasting handsomely against the clean white ground.

Named in memory of Adam Greathead, a talented young horticulturist and protégé of John Massey at Ashwood Nurseries, who died tragically in 2017 aged only 27. A snowdrop with both horticultural merit and a rather touching story attached to it.

Galanthus plicatus is a robust species from the Black Sea region, and ‘Adam’ retains the vigour and substantial foliage expected of the species.
