Fragaria 'Pineberry White Dream'

A strawberry with a little identity crisis — green at first, then ripening to creamy white with conspicuous red achenes and a flavour that really does suggest pineapple. ‘Pineberry White Dream’ is a cultivated white-fruited strawberry, not a strawberry × pineapple hybrid, and is quite distinct from the raspberry-like ‘Framberry’ and from ‘Mieze Schindler’/‘Strasberry’. RHS currently lists it as Fragaria ananassa ‘Pineberry White Dream’. 

Its commercial history is unusually well documented for such a novelty. The name ‘Pineberry White Dream’ was in use in the Netherlands by early 2011, when it was being developed and promoted alongside the separately named ‘Framberry’; Vitro Bio Plant Holland registered the name as a trademark in February 2011. The 2012 Arnhem court record is particularly useful because it explicitly distinguishes the two plants and names. 

It needs a conventional strawberry cultivar nearby for good pollination and crops in June.
