Epipactis palustris is the orchid that politely ignores the notion that orchids are impossibly difficult. Happy in a reliably moist spot, it rewards even modest care with elegant, jewel-like blooms that seem almost too exotic for a British marsh, yet have been quietly thriving here for centuries. 
Our native Marsh Helleborine producing a 30-50 cm tall flower spike with 15-20 flowerheads with pale falls and reddish-brown wings. June to August flowering. Full sun to part-shade. Prefers a more moist position. tolerant of chalk soils. Hardy.
