Aster (Symphyotrichum) 'Photograph' AGM

Aster 'Photograph' Asteraceae

Aster by another name, and one apparently chosen by someone with an eye for publicity. Symphyotrichum ‘Photograph’ is a refined late-season perennial, producing a generous display of daisy-like flowers when much of the border is beginning to look distinctly camera-shy. The flowers are held above branching stems and combine particularly well with ornamental grasses and other autumn-flowering perennials. A useful choice for extending the season, it brings colour and movement without requiring constant attention — although the butterflies may regard it as a rather more important appointment. Very popular at the Great Dixter Plant Fair, where discerning gardeners know a good aster when they see one. Height 90–120cm; spread 60–90cm.
